BALCONY SAFETY COMPLIANCE NOTICE

To keep your community safe, attractive, and enjoyable for everyone, please review these important guidelines for balconies, decks, and common areas:

Balcony & Deck Cleaning

Clean carefully and ensure that no water, dirt, or debris is allowed to spill or flow over balcony or deck edges. This includes water from mopping, hoses, or plant maintenance. Any runoff into neighboring units or common areas is strictly prohibited. Violations are not acceptable and will result in fines

No Tossing Items
Do not throw or drop anything from balconies or decks, including cigarettes. Even small items can cause serious damage and create serious safety hazards. A prior incident involving a cigarette landing on a balcony cushion resulted in a major fire. This is a serious violation and will result in fines.

Smoking
Smoking is permitted inside your unit or on your exclusive balcony/deck; however, residents are required to take all necessary steps to prevent smoke from impacting neighboring homes (including the use of air purifiers or smokeless alternatives where applicable). Failure to control smoke impact and repeated complaints will result in fines.

SWING INTO SPRING AT OUR BRUNCH CELEBRATION- SOCIAL LOUNGE

Just a friendly reminder about our “Swing into Spring Brunch” happening this Sunday, April 19th, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm in the Social Lounge. Join us for light bites, refreshing mimosas, and great company as we celebrate the start of the season together. Each unit may bring up to two adults, and families are welcome to include their young children. We look forward to seeing everyone there and enjoying a wonderful morning of brunch and bubbles!

OUT OF OFFICE NOTICE – JULES, RESIDENT SERVICE COORDINATOR

Jules, our Resident Service Coordinator, is currently out of the office on leave. During her absence, we appreciate your patience and understanding. If you need assistance in the meantime, residents are welcome to reach out to Carlos Mayes, Assistant Manager, at cmayes@actionlife.com. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to welcoming Jules back and are excited to have her return soon.

KEEPING YOUR TRASH ROOMS CLEAN & PEST-FREE

To help maintain cleanliness and prevent pests in your shared trash rooms, all residents are required to properly contain food and organic waste before disposal. In San Diego, plastic bags, including those labeled “compostable” or “biodegradable”, are not permitted in organics bins and can contaminate the waste stream.

Instead, food scraps should be placed in paper bags, wrapped in newspaper or paper towels, or securely contained before being disposed of. Properly handling organic waste is especially important in our warm climate, as loose food can quickly lead to odors, maggots, and other pests. Taking a moment to dispose of waste correctly helps keep your community clean and comfortable for all.

REQUEST FOR RESIDENT INSPECTION: BALCONY CONDITION CHECK

The Association’s construction experts have identified a potential issue with missing or unsupported fasteners on some balcony glass railings.

Residents are encouraged to inspect their balconies and, if any fasteners appear missing or loose, please email our General Manager, Alma Galindo at Agalindo@actionlife.com to report the needed repair and Alma will assist with scheduling your unit’s repairs with Barrier Glazing.

As a precaution, we also advise residents to avoid leaning on the balcony glass while further evaluations are underway.

PLANNED FIRE DRILL NOTICE AT SAPPHIRE TOWER (NEIGHBOR PROPERTY)

We wanted to inform you of a planned fire drill taking place at our neighbors, Sapphire Tower, 1262 Kettner Boulevard, San Diego, CA, on Wednesday, April 22, at 3:00 PM.

During this drill, the fire alarm will sound for approximately five minutes. Please do not be alarmed if you hear the system activate, as this is only a scheduled test of their safety procedures.

PROPOSED NAVY SEAL MUSEUM AT LANE FIELD

A $256 million Navy SEAL Museum is proposed for 1220 Pacific Highway, along the San Diego waterfront near the Grande South. The four-story, 85,000-square-foot museum would honor the U.S. Navy’s maritime special operations forces and feature seven galleries, educational spaces, a cafe, retail areas, and an event terrace. At 65 feet tall (roughly six to seven stories) it will be taller than nearby structures like the Lane Field Marriott garage. The developers will present the project at the Port of San Diego Board meeting on April 21. If approved, construction could begin in 2029, with the museum opening in 2031–2032 as a major new attraction on the North Embarcadero.

OUTDOOR FURNITURE AREA CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

We will be performing maintenance in the BBQ and social lounge areas. This includes a thorough cleaning of the white sofa seating in the BBQ area. The area will be temporarily roped off on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, to allow for proper cleaning and drying.

The furniture adjacent to the social lounge will be temporarily removed piece by piece for wood staining touch-ups. These efforts are part of our commitment to keeping shared spaces clean, well-maintained, and enjoyable for all residents. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

MEASURE A- MEETING INFORMATION

The Grande North Neighborhood Committee would like to invite you to an informational town hall meeting to discuss Measure A, which is a proposed tax on second homes.

This meeting will focus on opposition to the measure. A future meeting will be scheduled to include speakers who support it, so residents can hear both sides before making a decision.
