PREVENT PROBLEMS BEFORE THEY HAPPEN: YOUR BALCONY CHECKLIST

To keep your community safe, attractive, and enjoyable for everyone, please review these important guidelines for balconies, decks, and common areas:

No Tossing Items
Please do not throw anything from balconies or decks, including cigarettes. Even small items can cause serious damage. Several years ago, a cigarette landing on a balcony cushion started a major fire.

Smoking

Smoking is allowed inside your unit or on your exclusive balcony/deck, but residents must take steps to minimize smoke impact on neighbors (air purifiers, smokeless devices, etc.).

Vegetation & Landscaping

Plants must stay within your balcony or deck boundaries. Potted plants must have a tray underneath to catch water and prevent spillage. Trays should be raised to allow airflow. Plants must not block drains or fall onto balconies below.

Barbecue & Lantern Restrictions

Only electric barbecues are allowed. Gas or charcoal grills are prohibited. Only electric lanterns and heat lamps are allowed. Propane or other gas devices are prohibited.

Balcony & Deck Cleaning

Clean carefully to avoid water or debris spilling over edges. Residents are responsible for any damage or injury caused by items that fall from balconies or decks. Spillage: Please ensure mops, hoses, or other cleaning activities do not allow water, soil, or other substances to flow beyond your balcony/deck. Using trays or containers can help prevent spills onto neighbors’ areas.

GARAGE SAFETY GUIDELINES: KEEP EVERYONE SAFE & DRIVE SMART!

Maximum Speed

Always maintain a maximum speed of 5 mph. Drive slowly, especially around corners, because blind spots are present.

Headlights On

Always keep your headlights on while driving in the garage. This helps other drivers see you, even during daylight.

Flash Around Corners

When approaching blind corners, briefly flash your headlights. This alerts other drivers and helps prevent collisions.

Guests

Remind any guests using the garage to follow these same safety rules.

Why it matters

Proper speed and visible lights help prevent accidents and keep our community safe.

STAY INFORMED: PROPOSED SAN DIEGO TAX ON SECOND HOMES

We would like to inform you about an important ballot measure regarding a proposed tax on second homes in San Diego, which may impact some of our residents here at Savina. We understand that many of you may not be aware of this development, so we want to ensure that all owners can stay informed and make their voices heard.

As the proposal gains momentum, both supporters and opponents have been actively submitting their arguments. The measure is designed to target second homes in San Diego, which could have potential effects on property owners, including those who use their units as vacation or secondary residences.

To learn more about the details of the proposed tax and the ongoing campaign, we encourage you to read the article from the San Diego Union-Tribune here: Supporters and opponents of San Diego tax on second homes submit ballot arguments as campaign fight gears up. We highly encourage you to review the information and, if you wish, participate in the upcoming vote.

POOL, SPA & BBQ AREA – SPRING/SUMMER REMINDERS

Summer is on its way! To ensure everyone enjoys our pool, spa, and barbecue areas safely, please follow these important guidelines:

Children under 14 must be supervised; children under 7 or under 4 feet tall must have an adult within arm’s reach. Only small children may use flotation devices such as water wings. Running, horseplay, throwing objects, loud noise, or music (unless using headphones) is prohibited.

Pool and spa use is limited to residents and their invited guests. Each unit may have up to four (4) guests at any time, and no group should monopolize the facilities.

Guests staying longer than two weeks are considered part of the household and must be registered with the Association. Other guests must be accompanied by a resident.

Cloth or disposable diapers are not allowed; children who are not toilet-trained must wear swim diapers or special swim trunks. Towels must be used on all pool furniture for sanitary purposes.

No smoking or glass containers are allowed in the pool or spa areas. Pets are not permitted in the pool/spa areas (except service animals). The use of cabanas is on a first-come, first-served basis. One household may use only one cabana at a time.

PARKING SPACES ARE FOR VEHICLES ONLY

This is a friendly reminder of the building’s parking garage rule. According to the Association Rules:

Parking spaces are to be used for parking vehicles only and cannot be used for storage, living, recreational, or business purposes.

We are aware that some items are currently being stored in the garage area. If you have belongings stored in your parking space or elsewhere in the garage, please arrange to have them removed by the end of the month. Beginning next month, any units that continue to use garage spaces for storage may be contacted individually to address the issue. Thank you for helping keep the garage safe, accessible, and in compliance with building rules. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation.
