REMINDER – ELECTRIC VEHICLE (EV) CHARGING UPDATES AT SAVINA
The Board of Directors has approved updates to the Association’s EV charging station rules, effective immediately following the July 8, 2026, Board meeting.
New Rules – Assigned Level 2 Chargers
- Residents using EV chargers in their assigned parking spaces must have a Chargepoint account and agree to Chargepoint’s terms and conditions.
- Owners are responsible for all costs associated with their charger usage, including network fees, electricity charges, and any other applicable Chargepoint fees.
- Verified EV owners with a charger in their assigned parking space have been assessed the 2026 Chargepoint network fee of $365.00.
EV Parking Space Reassignments
Management is continuing the process of reassigning EV charger-equipped parking spaces from residents who do not own electric vehicles to residents who have a demonstrated need for charging access. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please contact Alma Galindo at agalindo@actionlife.com.
New Level 3 Charger Idling Fee
To help improve charger availability and ensure fair access for all residents, the Level 3 charging stations now have an idling fee effective immediately.
- A 10-minute grace period will begin once charging is complete.
- After the grace period, a $1.00 per minute idling fee will be charged for vehicles that remain connected and occupying the charging space.
Residents are responsible for monitoring their charging sessions through their vehicle’s app or the Chargepoint app and moving their vehicle promptly once charging is complete.
WELCOME TO OUR NEW TEAM MEMBERS!
Please join us in welcoming two new additions to the Savina team! Jose Castro has joined as our new Chief Engineer, bringing many years of experience in high-rise building operations and engineering leadership. We also welcome Sharon Smith, our new Front Desk Associate, who will be assisting residents during the evening shift while pursuing her accounting degree. We are excited to have Jose and Sharon as part of the Savina community and look forward to the experience, dedication, and excellent service they will bring to our residents.
POOL DECK PALM TREE REMOVAL NOTICE
Brightview will be removing two dead palms on the pool deck starting at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, July 30.
Residents may experience increased noise during this time as the arborist team completes the scheduled work. The pool will remain open; however, residents are asked to be mindful of the crew working in the area.
Brightview will need to park near the stairs connecting the pool deck to the parking garage in L3 to safely remove and dispose of debris. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation while this work is completed.
SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON WEEKEND EVENT
Residents should be aware that San Diego Comic-Con is underway in downtown San Diego, bringing thousands of visitors to the area throughout the weekend. Large crowds are expected around the San Diego Convention Center, Gaslamp Quarter, Embarcadero, Little Italy, and surrounding downtown areas.
Residents should anticipate increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic, longer travel times, limited parking availability, parking restrictions, and possible street closures. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time when traveling through downtown areas during the event.
OWNER LEASING REMINDER: LEASED UNITS & AMENITY ACCESS
Owners who lease their residence are reminded that, under the Association Rules, amenity privileges transfer exclusively to the tenant for the duration of the lease. Once the lease begins, the owner may not use the Association’s amenities or common recreational facilities during the lease term, except as necessary to exercise rights under the lease, such as inspecting the unit.
Owners are also responsible for submitting the required lease documentation and tenant information to the Association within seven (7) days of executing the lease and remain responsible for ensuring their tenants comply with all Association Governing Documents. Any violations or damages caused by tenants may result in enforcement action against the owner, who remains primarily liable for the actions of their tenants and guests.
DO NOT STORE FOOD OR PANTRY ITEMS IN YOUR STORAGE UNIT
To help protect everyone’s stored belongings, please do not keep any pantry or food items in your storage unit. This includes canned and packaged foods, dry goods such as rice, pasta, flour, cereal, beans, and grains, as well as pet food, bird seed, and animal treats. Even sealed food products can sometimes contain pantry pests, such as cigarette beetles, which may already be present in the packaging and can spread to neighboring units.
Keeping food out of storage helps prevent pest infestations and ensures a clean, safe environment for all residents.
DID YOU KNOW? PROCESS SERVER POLICY
Did you know that registered process servers, Sheriffs, Marshals, and licensed private investigators may be granted access to the property to serve legal documents to residents? For everyone’s safety, all process servers are required to provide proper identification and documentation before being escorted directly to the resident’s door by staff. They are not permitted to roam the property or enter a residence, and staff cannot accept legal documents on a resident’s behalf. If papers are left behind after being refused, they will be forwarded to the resident by first-class mail. You can find the complete Process Server Policy in the Resident Handbook on page 76.
BEFORE YOU RENOVATE: IMPORTANT COMMUNITY UPDATE
We understand homeowners often look forward to making improvements or upgrades to their units. However, because the community is currently in the Construction Defect (CD) claim process, it may best to wait before starting any modifications inside your unit.
Until the claim is resolved and the repair scope is finalized, any changes could be affected by future work. For example, if repairs are needed behind walls or in areas you have upgraded, those improvements might need to be removed or altered, potentially at your expense. Pausing for now helps avoid unnecessary costs and ensures your upgrades won’t interfere with required repairs. Please contact us if you have any questions.
PLEASE BE AWARE: NESTING SEAGULLS ON THE 5TH FLOOR SOCIAL LOUNGE ROOF
We would like to remind everyone that a seagull is currently nesting on the 5th floor social lounge roof.
Please use extra caution when enjoying the pool, spa, barbecue area, or social lounge for the next few weeks. Mother birds may become protective of their nests and chicks and could swoop down or attempt to strike you with their feet or beaks if they feel threatened.
Increased bird activity may also result in bird droppings throughout the area. Our staff will do their best to address and clean affected areas as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
